The Global Award for Sustainable Development in Cities (Shanghai Award) is a global initiative led by UN-Habitat and China. Specifically targeting cities, the award is dedicated to recognising their outstanding progress and achievements in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the New Urban Agenda. Launched in 2023, the Shanghai Award is an annual award that is granted to five cities each cycle, recognizing their progress towards sustainable, inclusive, and resilient urban development.
